Travel
The road from Niš airport to Kopaonik would be considered fast and short based on the mileage. But we have an interesting 120 km journey ahead of us and some, depending on the time of year, two to two and a half hours of pleasant driving. From the airport, which is in the immediate vicinity of the Nis Sever toll station, we join the highway and head along the E-75 corridor in the direction of Skopje. Soon, after about ten minutes of driving, we get off the highway and go to Kopaonik exclusively on regional roads.
Where we pass
It is interesting that until Kopaonik itself, and after getting off the highway, we will pass through populated areas. The municipality of Merošina is the first, in the vicinity of which there is a small but well-known Oblačinsko jezero. We continue to Prokuplje, through which we wind until we leave the city, after which we continue in order towards Mala Plana and Blac. After turning right from this regional road that leads to the integrated crossing of Merdare and Kosovo and Metohija. It is near the town of Beloljin, we move along a beautiful, straight section of road located at the foot of the western part of the Mali Jastrebac mountain.
Blace, a typical place in the south of Serbia, which can be passed through literally in 1 minute, after which the landscape slowly begins to take on hilly and mountainous outlines. After about thirty minutes, we reach the crossroads near Razbojina, right in front of the Čelije lake, where we turn left and continue towards Brus.
Landscape
It gets more and more beautiful, we move along the river Rasina with beautiful pastures and mini gorges. We enter Brus, from where we can choose from which side we will approach Kopaonik. If we continue straight, towards Jošanička banja, we would take a more beautiful, but rather longer route, so we choose to turn left and continue towards Brzeće. You can already feel that we are getting closer to the mountain, in front of every house along the way you can buy homemade fruit and vegetable products.
Final
From the turn from Brzeće to the peaks of Kopaonik, in winter conditions, we are always supplied with equipment for moving on the road. It is is necessary during the whole season, from December to the end of April. After about twenty minutes from Brzeće, and two hours from Niš, we arrive at Kopaonik, the most visited mountain in Serbia.
