It consists of two, physically separated terminals, in that, the old Terminal 1, the designing and construction of which started far in 1937, is nowadays used for flights covered by Hungarian low-cost company WizzAir. Terminal 2, constructed later and finally put into operation in 2006, was done according to the highest world standards, with VIP terminal, is used by both the Bulgarian National Company Air Bulgaria, and the low-coast companies RyanAir, Transavia Holland , Eurowings, EasyJet, as well as the major  air transporters, flying in this part of the world: TurkishAirlines, CatarAirways, Lufthansa, Air France, Aeroflot etc.

Every half an hour, there is the airport Shuttle bus, driving passengers from the Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 and vice-versa.
